ESSENTIAL OILS

Everyone seems to be the look out for that one magic attractor; if it was that simple, there would be no bait companies, we could all use the same stuff from the same packet and we would all save a small fortune!

There is not an enormous list of additives in this section, the one's mentioned have worked for me over the past several years.

KELP POWDER

This is an ingredient that has been used by Japanese carp experts for a very, very long time. Apart from it's minerals, vitamins and oils, it also has a salt content. This is very useful in amino acid baits, as the amino's attach themselves to the salt which then disperses out of the bait. Use at 1 - 2ozs per 16oz mix.

LIVER POWDER

Liver powder is sold by virtually every bait company and is a tremendous additive to put into a bait. I generally  use it at around 1oz per 16oz mix.

CODLIVINE

A strong smelly vitamin/mineral supplement  used in animal feeds. It is a fish derived product and I generally use it with fish meal based baits. The only problem is that tench love the stuff and I would strongly advise not to use it where tench are abundant. use up to 3oz in a 16oz mix.

ROBIN RED

An old time oldie, this is a very dark red bird food spice, rich in spices, oils and vitamins with ground seeds. Robin Red is still catching nearly 35 years on! I use it at 2 - 3ozs per 26oz mix, but some of my friends have gone as high as six ounces. Will turn baits a muddy red/brown.

GREEN LIPPED MUSSEL EXTRACT

Another additive that is used by a large number of carp anglers. Rich in vitamins and minerals plus betaine, I find that it works particularly well in fish meal baits during high water temperature. Use up to 0.5 oz per 16oz mix.
